ETHANOL AT DBFPL

DBFPL is in the process of setting up a distillery in Hindupur village, Narayanpet district, Telangana with facilities to manufacture grain based ethanol with zero liquid discharge. The plant has been located strategically in rice-rich area with close proximity to one another to benefit from catchment and logistical advantage.

The proposed installed capacity of the plant is 3,30,000 Liters Per Day to manufacture ethanol from broken rice. The company’s distillery capacity is dedicated to the production of ethanol for blending it with petrol and to be supplied to Oil Marketing companies (OMCs).

ETHANOL AS A BIOFUEL

Ethanol is a type of alcohol that is clear, colourless liquid commonly used as a fuel and a solvent. It is produced through the fermentation of sugars or starches, which are commonly found in crops such as corn, sugarcane, rice and barley. During the Fermentation process, yeast is added to the crop material, which converts the sugars into ethanol and carbon dioxide.

Ethanol is used as a biofuel as it is a renewable source that can be produced domestically, making it a more sustainable option compared to fossil fuels. It can be blended with gasoline to create biofuel blends, which can be used in vehicles designed to run on gasoline.
